I am an Assistant Professor of Strategy at Northwestern Kellogg School of Management and  a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. My research focuses on the incentives and institutions that drive science and innovation. I use administrative data from fields like structural biology and astronomy to investigate academic competition, scientific careers, and AI in scientific discovery. I also study the labor economics of upward mobility and early-life career formation.

I graduated with a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2020 and earned a BS in economics, mathematics, and political science from Brigham Young University in 2014.
